“November in Portland”

“High school like autumn: / rain, mud, dark, / snow seems a day away.”

Impossible Archetype
Issue 6
26 August 2019

After a classmate dies, teenagers and teachers grieve.

Issue 6 of Impossible Archetype is now out and it includes my latest poem, “November in Portland.” It’s a poem based loosely on the death of a classmate in high school in the Pacific Northwest, a setting that cannot help but underline any given mood.

I’m always happy when I’m included in a new issue of Impossible Archetype, and this issue continues the journal’s tradition of great, thought-provoking, variegated poetry by LGBTQ+ poets.
